The IUSS School for Advanced Studies Pavia will take part in the Festa del Ticino with the initiative:

“The Words of Water: Between Language, Neuroscience, and Sustainability”
organized by the Laboratory of Neurolinguistics and Experimental Pragmatics.

An educational and interactive journey inviting adults and children to discover water as a vital, cultural, and linguistic resource. Through posters, language workshops, games, and interactive activities, participants will explore how we talk about water, the metaphors we use, and how our brain understands creative language.

🌍 From the historical importance of the Ticino River to today’s sustainability challenges, the workshop will guide participants on a journey through words, the brain, and the environment.

Special Activities:

• #FindTheMetaphor: a citizen science campaign to collect metaphors and idioms about water and beyond.
• #SpotTheMetaphor: an interactive game to guess the meaning of metaphors.
• “Drops of Neurolinguistics”: short scientific insights.
• Opportunity to voluntarily take part in an EEG experiment linked to the MetaMar project.
