On 25 May 2026, the first session of the final examinations for the PhD in Theoretical and Experimental Linguistics (XXXVIII cycle) will take place at the Sala del Camino of Palazzo del Broletto (Piazza della Vittoria 15, Pavia), starting at 10:00 a.m.
During the session, doctoral candidates Veronica Mangiaterra and Jacopo Sapienza will present and discuss the results of their research projects before the examining committee composed of Marianna Marcella Bolognesi (University of Bologna), Francesco Vespignani (University of Padova) and Alessandro Pigoni (IRCCS Ca’ Granda Ospedale Maggiore Policlinico di Milano).
The dissertations address innovative topics at the intersection of linguistics, cognitive science and computational methods:
- Veronica Mangiaterra – Computational tools as participants and models in metaphor research: from diachronic change to brain responses
- Jacopo Sapienza – Language as a window into psychosis, between inflammatory markers, drug-induced effects and subjective experience
The examination will be open to the public and may also be followed online via Zoom.
