There are numerous examples of determined and visionary women who, against the conventions and hostilities of their time, became researchers and scientists. They used intelligence and talent to scrutinize and explain the world. Often, their contributions went unrecognized or were undervalued, and the birth of their discoveries was attributed to their colleagues. Some of them have been forgotten, and for others, only fragments and legends remain; for the most fortunate, there are letters or articles that testify to their contributions. In this seminar, we will discuss some of these stories, playing with the faces and discoveries of these researchers in a journey against cultural and social prejudices and all kinds of disparities in education and career paths.
