Training Pills on Technology Transfer and Research Valorization, the training initiative organized by the IUSS School as part of the three-year program "Le Scuole Superiori ad Ordinamento Speciale: Istituzioni al servizio del Paese," which involves the six University Schools for advanced studies: Scuola Universitaria Superiore IUSS Pavia, Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna of Pisa, the Scuola Normale Superiore of Pisa, Scuola IMT Alti Studi Lucca,Gran Sasso Science Institute, and Scuola Internazionale Superiore di Studi Avanzati Sissa Trieste.
The training proposal is aimed at the acquisition of general knowledge about intellectual property and the main
methods of technology transfer in academia: from the fundamentals of intellectual property, the instruments of protection and the
patentability requirements, from the precautions to be taken before any publications to the procedures to be followed to allow a
correct and profitable valorization of research.
The first edition 2022, structured in a series of meetings held between April and May, was oriented to investigating the main forms of collaboration between institutions and with private entities, on issues appropriate entrepreneurial development, from the ideation to the steps of analysis and up to the launch of the new enterprise and on forms of financing for the establishment of start-ups and spin-offs, up to venture capital.
The course is aimed at all academics, with special reference to doctoral students, and is held in presence and online and in English.

The course is recognized as a cross-curricular activity for phd students IUSS.
For students in Undergraduates courses IUSS, the recognition is valid:
- for the IP LAW course as intra-area activity for Social Sciences and extra-area activity for Human Sciences area; Biomedical Sciences area and Science and Technology area;
- for the RESEARCH VALORIZATION course as extra-area activity for all Areas (Human Sciences Area; Biomedical Sciences Area; Science and Technology Area; Social Sciences Area)
The IUSS School is running for the second year the basic course on technology transfer and research valorization for students and doctoral students from the University Schools.
The course aims to provide a general overview on intellectual property protection tools, on the importance of their correct use and on the possible exploitation perspectives, with a specific focus on student entrepreneurship.
The course will take place on the afternoons of Wednesday 10, Wednesday 17 and Wednesday 24 May 2023, in the Sala del Camino of the IUSS School (Broletto Palace, Pavia) and will be held in English.
