These talks will introduce you to important distinctions and concepts of decision analysis that you can apply to make good professional and personal decisions. These concepts will also give you a basis for a better understanding of courses and books on decision making.
The series includes these six 1-hour talks:
11/09/23: “Basic concepts of decision analysis”
Strategic and operational decisions. Characteristics of good decisions.
12/09/23: “Selecting the decision situation”
The value of choosing decision situations, not just reacting to problems.
13/09/23: “A complete set of pertinent objectives”
Different types of objectives, their functions and the value of structuring.
19/09/23: “Generating valuable courses of action”
Characteristics of a good set of courses of action. Building strategies.
20/09/23: “Decision models including uncertain events”
An overall view of links of relevance, influence, information and impact.
21/09/23: “Evaluating and deciding well”
Measuring and evaluating correctly, understanding
The seminars will take place in person at IUSS Pavia and online on Zoom.
